Movie Review: "The Lincoln Lawyer"

Plot twists, great pacing, and a strong performance from Matthew McConaughey make his latest film one to see. He breaks out of his usual romantic comedy type-cast to play a high rolling attorney in "The Lincoln Lawyer". McConaughey's character can't ignore the mounting evidence against his client, played by Ryan Phillipe. Strong performances come in from William H. Macy as McConaughey's lead investigator and Marisa Tomei as his prosecutor ex-wife. Honorable mentions go to John Leguizamo as the bail bondsman, and Michael Peña, as a prison inmate. This film brings some fresh material to a genre that has played out on television too many times over. I really liked "The Lincoln Lawyer". The name of the movie comes from McConaughey's preference of doing busines in the backseast of an older model Lincoln Continental. Sorry Abe. The flick-o-meter gives "The Lincoln Lawyer" four out of five. I wasn't a big fan of the voiceover play-by-play during some parts of the film but this gritty legal thriller is McConaughey's best dramatic performance in years, maybe ever. So now you know before you go. movies without seeing me first.
