Jon is appealing to everyone's fear of viruses.... no matter how much one protects oneself from it "there's always gonna be that perfect Luke Skywalker virus that makes it to the center of the death star...in this case the death star (your machine) is the good guy". Unfortunately, the real message hidden underneath the slick presentation is: don't worry about it, just 'give us all your data and we'll protect it for you. So, the bottom line is that Jonathon is another one in a long line of "experts" who are pimping for 'Big Brother'.

Actually he's making the exact opposite point, that we should not allow ourselves to be pimped to Big Brother, even in the face of problems like viruses.

It's a good book. You can download it for free from http://futureoftheinternet.org/

My blog post about it : http://www.harrywood.co.uk/blog/2008/07/29/future-of-the-internet-and-how-to-stop-it/
