In the presentation we lead the audience through the technology selection process used on a project processing large datasets in realtime. We discuss the decisions behind our choice of Grid technologies and how data and computational requirements influence these decisions. We go on to give an overview of grid computing and finally we develop a working grid across a cluster of two nodes using GridGain, an open source grid toolkit. We discuss the outcomes of the project including lessons learnt and problems with current tools. Background information on this project is available in Processing Large Datasets in Real Time.

More information including slides and source code is available here: Off the Grid.
