Hybrid Natures on the City Floor

I created this video for submission to the 2007 Toronto Urban Film Festival. Submissions needed to be: silent, exactly one minute (I added the credits for upload here) and directed towards a specific festival theme. I submitted "Hybrid Natures" for consideration in the "forgotten places, uncommon spaces" category with the thought that most city dwellers don't pay much attention to the ground beneath their feet. The video was rejected, but I still like it and am thinking about doing a version with music.

This is the short explanation I included with my submission:

"While cities are intensely humanized environments, forces of nature continue to influence the quality and shape of urban landscapes. This video essay uses what designer George Nelson calls "The City Floor" to represent and signify the interactions that produce the hybrid natures - both human and non-human - of the city."
