This Super 8, 18 fps film, was made in 1969 and it was the 1st award winner at the 1970 Greek Amateur Cine Club Festival. It was shot during our vacations in Corfu with a small S8 hand held camera and actually was the basis for the creation of the 16mm movie of CORFU, 3 years later, in 1972. The interesting point of this movie is the sequence of the rally at the old town of Corfu, which does not take place any more for many years now. The film's text and narration, in a slightly poetic style, is in Greek by M.L.
Αυτή η ταινία έγινε το 1969, σε φιλμ Super 8 και 18 καρρέ ανά δτλ. , κατά τη διάρκεια των θερινών διακοπών μας στην Κέρκυρα.
Πήρε το πρώτο βραβείο στο φεστιβάλ ερασιτεχνικού κινηματογράφου που έγινε από την Ε.Λ.Ε.Κ. (Ελληνική Λέσχη Ερασιτεχνικού Κινηματογράφου) στην αίθουσα του φιλολογικού συλλόγου "ΠΑΡΝΑΣΣΟΣ" το βράδυ της 16 Μαίου 1970 (πρόεδρος κριτικής επιτροπής Γ. ΚΑΡΤΕΡ). Αποτέλεσε τη βάση για τη μετ'έπειτα δημιουργία της ταινίας "ΚΕΡΚΥΡΑ" σε 16 χιλ. το 1972,που πήγε στο φεστιβάλ Θεσσαλονίκης και πολλά άλλα φεστιβάλ του εξωτερικού. Ενα από τα ενδιαφέροντα σημεία αυτής της ταινίας για την Κέρκυρα, είναι οι σκηνές του ράλλυ που γίνοταν στην παληά πόλη και που τώρα έχει σταματήσει να γίνεται, εδώ και πολλά χρόνια.

You will see S8 and 16mm films, videos and digitally made movies, and perhaps you will recall your creative days of film-making and these years of the sixties and seventies, when thousands of aspiring new amateur filmmakers, worldwide, with a small 8mm camera in hands, were shooting their "masterpieces", in a 3 minutes 8mm reel, which they had to wait for 2 weeks to see it processed and ready for projection.
And yet, from some of those short movies, the so called modern artistic cinema, got many fresh ideas about shooting and editing films !
The movies you are going to watch, present the CINE's activities of M.L. who is Construction Engineer, Photographer and Filmmaker. He started as an amateur moviemaker and in a few years his films were shown on TV and at many festivals, internationally. The most interesting of his movies is REQUIEM (1970) for its avant-garde style, which maintains its originality even today, nearly 40 years after it was made !
