Pastor Nelson Turner of AV1611Reformation.com preached this sermon on the Lord's Day August 9, 2009. Using the inspired word of God in the English language, the King James Bible (Authorized Version 1611/1769 Cambridge Edition), Pastor Turner reviews the many ways in which both saved and unsaved people can be deceived and deceive themselves regarding their true natures and their state relative to God and salvation. The self-deception of sin without consequences is the greatest sin of which we are guilty today. This along with multiple other deceptions found naturally in man are explored in conjunction with biblical citations throughout the sermon. Pastor Turner invites the listener who purports to be saved to consider their profession of faith in view of the deceptions to which flesh is prone: pride; trying to make evil good; pursuit of wordly riches; deceptions of the heart; vanity of physical beauty; the corruptions wrought by alcohol and substance abuse; and the seeking of reward and recognition (among others). The Parable of the Sower and its lessons are particularly relevant to this subject. Verses cited from the AV1611 King James Bible include: Job 12:16/ Mark 13:5-6, 22/ Romans 16:17-18/ Matthew 24:24/ 1 Corinthians 3:16-19/ 1 John 1:8/ Ephesians 4:14, 22-24/ Leviticus 6:2-5/ Deuteronomy 11:16-17/ Obadiah 1:3/ Hebrews 3:12-14/ Matthew 13:18-22/ Mark 4:18/ Jeremiah 17:9/ Hebrews 6:4-8/ Genesis 3:17-18/ James 1:22-26/ Proverbs 14:25; 27:6; 31:30; 20:1/ 2 Corinthians 11:13/ 2 Peter 2:13/ Jeremiah 48:10/ Ezechial 14:7-9/ 2 Timothy 3:12-15
