That guy in the crowd is obnoxious. He isn't really saying anything that people who'd be listening to this don't already get, and seems to think that presenter is stupid too.

It looks like Antoine Pitrou has written a new GIL that addresses all the chronic behavior caused by the previous GIL. Here's his email announcing it: http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-dev/2009-October/093321.htmlThis new GIL was merged in with Python 3's development branch on November 10, as shown with the SVN repository: http://svn.python.org/view?view=rev&revision=76195I have no idea if the new GIL will appear in a Python 2 release.I thank David Beazley for this great presentation, and also for lighting a fire under this issue and motivating a solution.
