Whitney Hoffman (with Andrea Ross, Jay Moonah and others TBA) would like to have a community discussion about whether money affects your online content production. There's lots of talk about how to monitize podcasts, blogs, websites and the like, but when money exchanges hands, obligations inevitably follow. There also seems to be deeply held feelings regarding what constitutes "selling out" and "transparency". When do you sell your content short of its true potential? When does accepting money mean tailoring content to a client's wishes? Without industry standards, how do you value yourself and your skill set if you wish to freelance for clients? There's no simple answer to any of this, but it's something we should all talk about as a community.
