Christmas In Darfur?

What can three guys from Chicago do about the crisis in Darfur? Good question. In this film, a waiter, an IT guy, and a policy wonk head to the Chad/Sudan border in an attempt to gain a better understanding of the conflict in Darfur. Featuring interviews with members of the Sudanese Liberation Movement (SLM), the International Medical Corps (IMC), the Associated Press (AP), and the Genocide Intervention Network (GI Net). This is the first project from 77 International, a non-profit devoted to increasing awareness and understanding of world affairs through pop culture.

Very good video. I found the same thing about nobody having a solution. The USA has an H2A agricultural work visa program so I contacted ten or more "sudan" charities. Only one had any interest at all in talking to me! The USA has something like 12 million illegal aliens so must have an enormous capacity for immigrant workers and the H2A program is legal... but the "Sudan" relief organization are not interested. I just don't get it. Now when I see their ads on TV I think they are only trying to scam donors.

Why don't we start a "tour relief" charity. We fly people to Ethiopia or Chad and they can work for two weeks providing healthcare etc and the return flight we bring back H2A workers. Seems doable to me. But we need contacts in these camps to get the workers and we need a contact in government to lower the cost of H2A (the last effort to "lower" the cost actually raised it!). Or we could use the L1 program as blatantly exploited by HCL and other contract worker companies. If anybody has contacts and some ideas how to make this work then email me at gmail, timjowers.
