I wanted to love Repo.
Honestly, I thought it was overrated. It had a lot of potential, but the transitions were choppy, I thought they relied on the comic book images far too much for exposition, there was too much plot which wasn't well explained and very little catchy music. While it certainly had its moments, most of those were shown in the trailer. And I thought they underused Anthony Stewart Head and Sarah Brightman.
They also seemed to focus too much on certain special effects (hey look what we can do!). The hologram coming out of Meg's eye was a neat concept, but the effects to do it were nothing that Lucas didn't do 30 years ago.
With a rewritten score, some simplification (like, combine the 2 brothers into one maybe?) and a better method of covering the backstories, this could have been as good a movie as you say it is.
Rocky Horror it is not. (Though really, other than the corsets it's not much like Rocky Horror at all. It's more like a steampunky cross between Sweeney Todd and Rent, set in the future.)
