Beautifully said. Maybe someday Christians will learn to live and let live, applying their own religious notions to themselves and other like-minded believers, and behaving accordingly -- without insisting the government help them force others to think & do as they do. We can hope.
On the other hand, hey, if we give SOME people equal rights, then everybody will want them! :-)
I totally agree. I have always thought this country was founded on the notion of a separation of church and state. Isn't this one of our principles? Isn't that the reason why early Americans came over here and raped and pillaged their way in to power? So why is it that every time I turn around I am being governed by someone's religious beliefs or moral objective to somebody else's way of life? I am a Christian but I am still offended by this. Here are are, fighting a war to libertate citizens of another nation where we do not even consider all members of our own society equal. Come the fuck ON.
The best part about religon in general is that it sets itself to be the moral watch dog of the everyman. This is nothing new, It's happened ever since religon existed. Christian, Muslum, Mormon, Vulcan, it doesn't matter what religon you subscribe to, they have all discriminated and will always have someone to discriminate against. Otherwise they can't keep pointing that finger saying "you better not do what their doing or your going to hell?" Where is the power in that. No, I really don't think that we will ever get to the day when we can look at the person next to us and be able to say "Here is a person with thier own choices and chanllenges, and I respect his/her right's just as much as I value my own."
You know what, I didn't know how to vote via the ballot in FLA. The way it was worded makes me think I voted in the wrong direction. I'm for gay Marriage.... yet i feel i doomed them all!!
