Luca Alinovi on protectionism, free market and the need for investments in agriculture

Brussels, 16 October 2008 - Luca Alinovi, FAO, reflects on the issue of ‘Rising food prices: an opportunity for change?’. He advocates for a different 'policy space' that has the good balance between protectionism and free market. Each country is different, and in each country there needs to be the right blend of these measures. On top of that, the need for investments in agriculture is instead essential in both developed and developing countries.
