The Obama Song (World of Friends): Bridges for Obama

Bridges for Obama: American supporters of Sen. Barack Obama have been staging rallies abroad at world-famous bridges to show support for the Democratic presidential candidate and his pledge to span old political divisions.

The Obama Song (World of Friends): Japan-based American musical artists created and performed this song to celebrate Sen. Obama's historic candidacy and to inspire us all to change the world.

The songwriter, Garrison Davis has made the song available for digital sale, here:

OH LAWD.... MY PEOPLE!!!

I am very excited and proud to have lived to see this moment. BUT HE AINT JESUS!!...."He don't walk on water." I supported Obama since he FIRST announced he was running and everyone was looking and talking bout Hillary ....LONG before ANY primary election. Because I thought he was SMART and BRILLIANT. I think he will be a dmmn good President and that makes me most proud. BUT HE AINT NO SAINT....and folks making hymnals already....dmmn. I just think Black folk over-react just like those fools in that church when the preacher said "GD AMERICA" and they just jumping up in the background aint heard or questioned shtt!!! Yall just CANT KEEP IT SIMPLE without making it some spiritial stuff. I just think folks need to keep it perspective. And Yes....He has said some crap I did not like, but he still got my vote. He is smart and can be good President .....and that's IT for now. Show me what you can DO. And my people (as over emotional as some can be) are bestowing him into SAITNHOOD, already. WHATEVER. Grow up!!

ProBama you could have saved that comment. Just talk about the good for a change. This was just beautiful. I have written a song and I think it is approriate for this ocassion. I hope to put it out their. It's called "Keep the Faith". I couldn't stop crying watching this video because no he is not Christ Jesus, but he is truly a blessing sent from God and anyone that doesn't get it by now, you never will. It is ok to be emotional about these things because we are emotional people and that is what makes us so strong. This is the dream of MLK being lived out and elevated to another level and I think it is truly wonderful and never before since MLK walked the streets of America in the South, did we see this kind of unity with people from all walks of life. Well maybe during 911, there was a spark of hope and togetherness for a short time but then it slowly faded away. I just pray that this is just the beginning of the new America where everyone is seen as a person and not a color. The world is watching how this will play out and we must represent America in a unified form because that is the only way we will pull our reputation out of the gutter and ourselves out of this crisis. TOGETHER WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL!!! OBAMA/BIDEN 08"!!!!

Probama is RIGHT we do tend to take things too far...actually putting the cart before the horse a tad here...what happens should he lose...will all these bridges come crashing down?

And poor Steven Piffen - you already live in a SOCIALIST country and it has been for more than 70 years now...look up what FDR's new deal was...do you know what SOCIAL security is for...how do you think we pay for our roads, our bridges and other "government" funded activities..."catch" phrases should be researched before used!!!

But, if you like having the rest of the world look at us as that "challenged" older cousin with a learning disability - as it seems we can't learn from history and continue to practice regime change and pretend to be neo-crusaders here to fight the "evil" muslims - then go ahead...I'm voting for CHANGE...no not a Mesiah - but a smart and rational PRESIDENT!!! Very nice, imagery is moving and it's truly wonderful to see the outpouring of good will from all over the world. His winning the election is when the party begins, so don't forget about that in the heady rush of the moment! He will need every bit of support and enthusiasm we can give him. Getting him in office is just the start. We have the imploding economy, wars, global warming and a lot of other things to do and he's prepared to hit the ground running. He will succeed, but we need to give him time to work on it all, so don't expect miracles or heavenly choruses! He's smart, savvy, and fully ready right out the box. Go Barack, give 'em hell, do us all proud. I'm ready for the next 4. Let's be realistic, though. He's not bringing us paradise on earth, but it'll be much better than it's been.

We all have the same thing is us, as Obama has in him. Christ.

Great song, great support, America needs change from this racism demon and as long as white people and republicans keep racism alive America will be bound to that racism demon. Obama is not Christ and yes he has Christ in him, he chose to go to the poorest to help them, he is a family man, McCain divorced his wife left her homeless, had an affair with Cindy while married to his wife, is that christian? McCain also gave a grant to Ayers, and he also received money from Fannie Mae, Palin holds KKK rallies everytime she speaks, KKK and other white supremacist groups are radicals and terriorists not Obama, Obama is the right chose for America because he is for all people of every race and every walk of life not for the select few as McCain and the republicans are. Wake up America and see that God is tired of the hatred, the lies, the sin.

Good morning all. What a wonderful day today is. Been up since 3AM in anticipation of this monumental day. I haven’t read the postings until this morning and realize many have fail understand what I am saying. Dually, I recognized it like pushing BIG ROCK up the side of mountain. Nevertheless, here goes nothing.

Picking a President is not like picking a homecoming queen. It is not as much a popularity contest. I am less concern with how you look....and more concern with how you affect MY WALLET and the life I live. Someone mentioned Obama being Christ-like. HUH? That’s some scary shtt to bestow on ANY man. Didn’t they say similar stuff about Jessie Jackson 30 years ago??? And wasn’t he on television "cutting someone's balls off??"

It pretty much human nature to look for someone to believe in and admire. Is he a heaven sent?...NOPE. No more than me or the Brother down the street. HE IS A POLITICIAN....period. End of story. Now, Mister Politician...show me what you can DO. I was bothered by your "inspirational song" i thought is was completely OVER THE TOP. And I wonder if you would created a similar song if he wasn’t "half"-Black. I would love for my people to practical rational thoughts, but we know how to whoop it up church style at every opportunity. And I KNOW before THIS DAY ENDS....I will be embarrassed by one of my people doing or saying something on TV. But I will survive.

TODAY is such precious day. For the many before me who have struggled, fought, suffered, and DIED for the simple right to vote, to be heard ...and to matter in this country.

I AM PROUD TO HAVE LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO VOTE TODAY FOR OBAMA.

Garrison Davis said: 1 year ago

Ok "Pro Obama", you don't understand the song, because you are trying to measure it with your intellect instead of your spirit. The problem is you are coming up short because you don't realize that you ARE a spirit, you have a mind ( intellect ) & you live in a body, much like a computer, the hard drive is the computer; it comes with a software changer & is housed by a plastic & graphite body. Christ didn't come preaching "religion", or "intellect", he came to teach & reintroduce us to God's system, which ( like it or not ) is "spiritual". He created us for relationship, not religion. He is spirit & so are we. God only gave us a body of flesh to function in this earth that he gave us authority over ( read your bible ). You have apparently been repelled like many others by traditional, religious theology & "whooping it up"; so much so, that you don't recognize anything spiritual, which fuels all natural reality. If you have accepted Christ into your heart, then the closer you get to him, the more "Christ-like" you are. The spirit has been changed, but now the mind & body are the believers choice & responsibility to change. This song is not "religious"; it is simply expressing something from the inside out... From the spirit to the mind, & finally, the flesh. If all you can measure is from the outside in, then you are truly missing the whole picture. As Christians, we are SUPPOSED to behave like Christ. We are supposed to be imitators of God our father, just like children imitate their parents. That is as "rational & practical" as it gets. Our spirits have been changed & perfected by him; now we have to change our unperfected minds by his word & be responsible for our bodies, by taking care of ourselves. We got cut off in the garden of Eden by Adams foolishness, but Jesus has come to re-link us to Father God again. It's about spirit & relationship. This song is full of joy & spirit; not because I wrote it, but because it came from heaven. It's spiritual! Everything about Gods system is practical & rational, only from a SPIRITUAL prospective. "For as many that are lead by the spirit, they are the sons of God" "IF" you haven't asked Christ into your heart, please do so without delay... Get your heavenly download & activate your spiritual GPS! Be richly blessed, Garrison Davis

Thank you, Garrison. I will take your points under strong advisement. You are correct I am not very spiritual. Therefore, agree to disagree. Your song aint for me. And personally I dont think the Obama folks would pick it either. Ludacris goes to one extreme and this takes it to the other. But check this out. I waited TWO hours to vote this morning. A very long line. But I hung in there as we inched our way to the front door of the election bldg.

As the line approched the building's parking lot.....I heard music blaring from the front of building. A public bldg where the line of ALL types of people entering to vote. I could NOT believe they were actually playing gospel music (my people of course.... running thangs) while HUNDREDS of people all races, religions, creeds, inch past the door and music.

I PROMISE YOU I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. I could not believe it. You guys will not stop making this election anything less than an arrvial at the promised land. The vast majority, not all, but most were White folk. And not it was the White Gospel playing. Its wwas a very soulful gospel music. I could tell some wanted to avoid hearing the music but didnt want to appear as the Bad White person to say something to the Black people running thangs.. So of course, I did. I walked over politely and quietly told him the music was not appropriate for a public voting activity. Which he replied in a loud tone (mostly because the music was loud) "then I will just turn it off." So the White folks heard that. As I got back in line all were smiling as I walked towrds the queue.

Everything has it proper place. I will not reply any further on your site or about your song. I obviuosly just dont get and probably wont ever. So to each his own. I wish you the very best in life and much success with your musical telents. Be blessed. "I VOTED" Obama 08!!!

Great song!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us, I wish everyone could hear and see the video. I wish those who listen will understand. The song is not "puttting President-elect Obama up there with Jesus", as some seem to believe. We know that our God every now and then, when we are falling, like any good Father reaches to break the fall of his child, has offered us-out of nowhere! At this moment - Barack Obama with the profound and single message to break our fall- perhaps for the last time-COME TOGETHER, WORK TOGETHER, BECOME WHAT YOU WERE MEANT TO BE, ONE GREAT NATION- A BEACON OF HOPE FOR THE WORLD, UNITED AND STRONG!! This could be our last chance to get it right. I wish everyone could see what i see in President Obama- a humble, unselfish man, who knows what it means to be committed to his wife, his family, his community and country. Although he was slandered and demeaned, he smiled and shrugged it off and said 'it's okay'. This tells you the man knows his worth and doesn't have to respond to everything any one says about him. Barack Obama is someone all our young men- black and white should want to emulate. Trust me, if this man had had one unpaid ticket or stolen anything, it would have been dug up and announced to the world. They could find nothing so slandered him. Even so-called Christians who as we know should remember that Jesus said "Love" is the most important virture a Christian should have, disregarded that fact. One Christian radio station program even suggested that 'Barack Obama would usher in the Appocalyspe!!! Let's just pray hard for each other and worship our God in spirit and truth. Peace to all around the world!!!

Probama,

I understand where you are coming from, truly I do. But someone once told me that if I couldn't find anything nice to say, maybe I should just say nothing. Don't try to stamp out another person's blessings. If this is what they need, hope, then let them have it. What did you gain by saying what you did? What life did you change? Did you bring anyone closer to a better day? If not, keep it to yourself. There are those who feel as you do. That's fine. But for those who have longed for a sign of hope, for those who need to believe that there is a divine intervention here, for those who want to believe in something bigger than themselves, allow them that joy. Knowing that you are there to back up those who believe by standing guard over the thing you call reality is comforthing. But believe that someone prayed for you. It takes all kinds....it's okay to be different. We love you too and so does Obama. He wants to bridge the gap, don't make it bigger.

Let's give credit where credit is due... This video is a wonderful collaboration!! Very talented people... wonderful, uplifting photography... I, too, share in the joy of witnessing history and realizing that our country has progressed to the point where 61% of Obama's supporters where white. Great progress!! However, I was not an Obama supporter. This election brought about such mixed emotions for me. I know everyone wants change. I do, too... but as a Christian, I could not bring myself to vote for someone who regardless of what he professes to be, openly chooses not to defend the unborn nor support traditional marriage. This basically slaps Jesus in the face. Matt 25:40 says "...I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine (not THE "Brothers"), you did for me". Those millions of silent voices are the "least" of us... They do not have a voice, and we are to be their voices. However Obama chooses to view them as a choice, and not a life. Yes, he says that he wants to decrease the number of abortions that occur, but that number could be drastically reduced if he defended those babies and made it illegal to kill them, in the first place. If he claims to be Christian, then standing for and living by the Word should come before the economy or anything else the "world" views as important. He will have to answer to God for how he used his power. "Anyone, then, who know the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins" James 4:17 NIV

I will pray for Obama, for he is my president now, too. I will pray that he is led by and obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit. "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine OWN understanding. In ALL thy ways acknowledge Him and He WILL direct your paths"... Proverbs 3:5-6 (emphasis mine).

The fact that Obama made such strides is a powerful tool for the African-American communities nationwide. I , for one, have new found hope in the fact that America can and has changed to a degree. I have new motivation in teaching my children and grandchildren that you can be anything your heart desires, if only you dare to dream. I am teary eyed at this moment because for the first time in my life i feel that " YES I CAN" !!! God Bless us one and all !!

I write this, not because I think Barack Obama is a saint, rather because he represents the turning around of a nation. A nation headed into some of it's darker days; a nation for which other nations had little respect; a nation of people who doubted their leadership, their ability to grow and prosper, their ability to believe in much of anything at all.

I expect him to make mistakes and have people displeased with some of his ideas and policies. You know the saying, "You can't please everyone ..."

He's just a man - but a man with enough foresight, discipline, clear thinking, and belief in himself and his country that he had the AUDACITY to use all the tools available to him in the electronic age and galvanize, not just a nation, but a world.

He is just a man and what he has done other men could have done as well... THEY didn't; he did - and therein lies the difference.

We have "God-ed" ourselves to death as a people. Obama worked his butt off to succeed , and many of us did the same to assist him. So many of you were so busy doing the easy thing , you sometimes forget that politics in the USA is not about God. It is about work and sacrifice and "taking care of the business". If we had not been so busy accepting the oppressors God ,and had we kept our eyes open, there might not have been slavery. I'll take work over prayer every time. It is much more productive and less subject to dumb luck. Let's not do the same thing again. Pray if you must but keep one eye open. We are too busy looking for a savior and too gullible at enduiirng every shyster who comes along promising nothing and charging you for it. It's a new day! Wake up !!!

This was the first time I had the chance to read the comments about this song. I have this attached to one of my Encouraging Words documents that I send out almost daily. I found it to be very inspiring song. It was good timing and I know that GOD had a lot to do with it because of its contents. Keep up the good work. I know this may be late, but I am compelled to respond to this. As I read the comment's I noticed the one's from pro Obama and the one’s that replied. And please understand we all have the right to express our self, we also have that right to make our on choice. God had placed that and our life. Given us the chance to make our on choice's in life. But judgment is not ours to place on others. We are not, nor ever had that authority. Pro Obama you have that choice to feel as you do and also all those who had comments about the statements that were made. But it started to sound more like a cat and dog fight. We have to be more careful when we are trying to make a statement about some one who is trying to do good for all. And what we say can bring discouraging out come. Even when we are trying to correct some one. Just a small suggested in the future make sure you pray and ask GOD for guidance in your words. You may find the results a lot better. Division is not what we need at this time.

Peace to you all

Ps if any one would like to receive Encouraging Word’s e-mail me at freeman_eugene@yahoo.com
