Accra-Tema is rapidly becoming a twin city. The small fishing village, Sakumono, has become a major middle-class suburb; the marshland between Sakumono and Tema has almost vanished, like the coconut trees that used to line the coastline. Ships await their arrival at the Tema Port, which has become important in West Africa's trade route for landlocked neighboring countries due to the current unrest in Cote d'Ivoire.
