mccain is not sane!

Unfortunately, even though he listed many of his accomplishments, and experiences, I still don't know what kinda man "DR. Phillip Butler" is. Since, I don't know the integrity of this man, I refuse to "just accept" 1 man's opinion. I Don't know what he and Mc Clain's real relationship was, and neither do most of you that watched this video. The Dr. mentioned nothing about Mc Clain's policies, or His own "world view" and what he stands for or believes. So I can't and won't condemn Mc Cain based on this man's nor anyone elses 2 cents about him. From who and what they knew about him 40 years ago. As for the "McCain" this man "knew" back in the day, who held no real christian or evangelical opinion. It's simple...PEOPLE CHANGE, GOD CAN & DOES CHANGE PEOPLE, if they allow Him. As we approach this election, I challenge you all to:

1. THINK before judging anyone. (we're all a part of this great nation) 2. KNOW what you stand for and believe. (policies) 3. KNOW where each candidate stands on the policies at hand. 4. VOTE accordingly.

Peace, to all!

CC is right on. That's the problem with people relying on these types of productions. All too many will accept it at face value, and not even consider how people change through the years.

You have to wonder how many people who knew McCain 40 years ago were interviewed until one was found who may have had an axe to grind. You simply don't know what this man's agenda or motivations are.... Did he get passed over for a promotion which was given to McCain 40 years ago? I've know people who never forget such things. They take them personally (even though McCain may not have personally has anything to do with whatever it was - it's the individual's perception) and NEVER forget.

Another point is that a great many people have no idea about the inner workings of the military. The have no idea how promotions work, how officer or enlisted "report cards" work, or anything else because they have never had to deal with them. Such people have only their pre-conceived ideas of how things should work. Such was the case with so many who support John Kerry against his former comrades from Vietnam. Anyone who knew the internal workings of the military would likely have sided against Kerry.

Not everything is as it appears to be, and a great deal of what it appears to be is what the producers WANT people to believe.

Michael Moore is famous for this. Take a film crew to Cuba and film what the Cuban government wants people to think is true. The later film is smuggled out displaying what his cameras were not pointed at, and it's a totally different reality.

A friend of mine is pro Obama... and one of his issues with McCain was how many homes he has. That same friend forgets that both McCain and Kerry (who my friend supported) are married to wealthy women who can afford many homes.

This election, I'm going with who I consider the lesser of two "evils", based on the issues and on questions which have yet to be answered about the candidates and what their views are on many issues.

Please, whoever you vote for, make darn sure, as least as much as you can be, that it's the right one. Not because he is young or old, not because he is Republican or Democrat, but because of his principles and core beliefs, and does he stand by them, or does he sway with the wind, dumping people who may cost him points, or standing by them no matter what (as long as they are not criminals)/ Eight years from now, will that person still be the one you would have chosen? Remember, too, that failure to vote removes your right to complain if the one elected is a bad choice. My comrades and I have devoted our lives to guaranteeing your rights to pick your leaders. Please don't make what we have sacrificed meaningless.

National Public Radio did an investigation on the subject. They went to Vietnam and spoke with people who were running the camps. They admitted to torturing people, but said that they did not torture John McCain. His arms were broken in the plane crash and they didn't have the medical knowledge to set them properly. I'm sick of hearing him using his POW experience to manipulate the minds of Americans.

He speaks about how the experience matured him and how he grew as a person. Yet, he came back to America and immediately began cheating on his loyal wife because she was no longer the Barbie doll he married. So, he found another Barbie doll, this time with money, and married her. Now, he has a third Barbie Doll as a running mate. He hasn't grown up at all. He is still self-centered and a hothead as other former schoolmates described him on CNN. I'm terrified of a White House with him and Palin in it.

I agree with Captain Crunch and Reality Chick, however I agree somewhat with Dr. Butler too. I too fought in Vietnam as a combat Marine Platoon Sergeant. Many Vietnam Vets have experienced PTSD. I would think that POW's have had a horrible experience and may still struggle with those experiences. While in Nam, I made a pledge with my platoon that I was not going to become a POW because of what we know the North Vietnamese did to Americans. Plus, we knew we were fighting Russian and Chinese troops too. Many of you reading this have not experienced the horrors of war. I do not know what it is like to be a POW, but I can tell you this, during my 20 years in the Corps I was NOT going to become a POW. I would have died fighting first. I have lived with PTSD for over 39 years and it is not fun. I will bet my annual salary that John McCain has symptoms of untreated PTSD. I say that not to demean him. He is a Vietnam Vet like me and I want the best for him too. This is not about politics. It is about having a quality of life as a combat veteran. I talk to Vets all the time (Repubs and Dems) and we all agree, John McCain appears to have symptoms of PTSD and a behavior that is similar to a victim of domestic violence. Research how he defends his captors and how he stikes out at POW families. He did not support the POW/MIA Bill or the recent VA Bill. How come? John drinks and he gambles a lot. His fellow Senators have spoken about his anger. Read about PTSD and watch his facial expressions and especialy his eyes. You may want to see this www.vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain.com/ I am not saying this is fact, but I think it is one of many research articles on John McCain to explore. I found his recorded behavior tward the POW families at a U.S. Senate hearing very alarming and how he was able to turn around and hug the man who had tortured him. Do your own research if you dare! Peace

I think the intent of this video was to simply show the "other" side of the story (at least in this gentleman's view). To take this video as the end all say all about McCain's person is really something that amazes me per Capt. Crunch's post. No one said you have to believe him...just take it as "hmmm, that is interesting" and keep living.

I am proud to know that there is someone who would at least step up and challange the media's viewpoints as making McCain out to be some POW god...

ikanspelgoode said: 1 year ago

I understand the purpose of putting this together and I don't think being a POW makes one qualified to be president by any means. Nonetheless, this is all-too-reminiscent of the swiftboat veterans and the attacks on John Kerry as being a bad soldier and not a real war hero. Kerry supporters thought it was incredible that his military service could be used against him; is this not the same? Are there no better ways to challenge McCain's qualifications and platform than to sink to the level of swiftboat ads? I think we can focus on the issues of the election without resorting to this, which I think is in bad taste. Just my opinion.
