Effective. I know the tired Democrat response: "Republican fear tactics". The thing is both sides appeal to fear: Democrats want you to be afraid of losing your job, of not having enough money for food or health care. Republicans want you to be a afraid of terrorists and tyrannical regimes. One fear is out of our individual control, the other fear can be faced individually. We don't need a president to face our individual fears, but we need one to face the larger, existential fear. I'll let you figure out which is which.

When that phone rings at 3 a.m., will John McCain's Ambien let him answer it?

decay33 said: 1 year ago

This is gross and low. They are using war tactics to scare me into voting but look at the images and the suffering people they are using for thier political advantage.

Duiker said: 1 year ago

This is sick and below John McCain. McCain looks desperate, cheap, and ineffective. McCain obviously has nothing to say about his own credentials or policies -- or perhaps he has no credentials or policies after all. Anyone foolish enough to vote for McCain on the basis of these ads deserves him. "Substantive campaign on the issues" my foot.

You people ought to be scared of Barack Obama. Do you really want to have someone who tells you only what you want to hear, nothing of truth or consistency, to run our country? Or someone that we know has minimal experience? You may be willing to take the chance with our future, but I have a child and I pray every night that Barack Obama is not elected to be President of the United States, the greatest nation on earth, because it will be the beginning of our demise.

Duiker said: 1 year ago

Our demise began seven and a half years ago.

FoCo said: 1 year ago

Dear Tiffedale, Before you get all scared and worry about your child listen, listen to Barack Obama. I am also a mother and share your concerns for our children, I am 52. I worry everyday and every night about the country my young adult children are inheriting. My children are 25 and 22; I have witnessed the demise of our public education system. My children ran the gantlet of bullies’ everyday at school, I took my daughter to college classes so she would see there was more to life than the abuse she suffered everyday in public education, and I paid for it myself. This is not unique to our school system but is common all over this country. My husband and I are now paying for college, I only hope you will have the opportunity to send your child to college and be able to retire before you are too old to enjoy it. With John McCain you and your child and your grandchildren will be paying for 2 wars that never should have been. You can watch members of corporations live in various houses and take unimaginable vacations while you try and keep a roof over your head. With John McCain you will see your rights erode; with the help of the Supreme Court. As a woman with children you could probably never imagine what would make a woman terminate a pregnancy, I couldn’t either but – I want to give women everywhere the option to make this decision for themselves. With John McCain we can hold humans in an overseas prison until the time for another election and then we can parade them out and let them finally have a lawyer, it is a farce. This country is still a great nation but on a downhill spiral and in case we do something different it could be too late. We have to take it back. I don’t for one minute think Barack Obama is the answer to every problem we have but at least with him we have a chance. This Ad is nothing but a scare tactic, very common with republicans, nothing more and you have to see beyond that, with McCain it’s just the same old, same old.

PS. Do you ever wonder why republicans leave office and go work with big oil companies or very large corporations and then come back to public office? You should care about that.

This is a great ad! Keep proving to the American people that Nobama is not qualified to be dog catcher let alone President. In the words of Joe Biden, the Presidency is not a job that lends itself to on the job training. The Obama camp is getting worried and nervous. Keep firing back, McCain camp!!! President McCain in 09!

President McCain08 said: 1 year ago

Decay33, The only reason you think it's gross and low is because it is an effective ad. It uses other candidates' words against Nobama. Then at the end, Nobama's own words grab him by the throat. And for all you libs with no balls, why are you complaining about the ad containing scenes of war? Do you deny what is going on in the world? All the more reason that you people have no business in positions of leadership of this country.

bballkj said: 1 year ago

The last time I checked, John McCain didn't have any experience being president either. I do believe that McCain will receive some "on the job" training if we are foolish enough to elect him. Barack Obama was not born yesterday, so he does have experiences he will bring to the job. Not to mention a ton of advisers behind the scenes to guide us in the right direction. And unlike John McCain, he will bring a fresh perspective. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see that Obama was born with intangible leadership qualities that cannot be obtained through any amount of experience. He has the ability to bring everyone to the table as we try to remedy the absolute mess that George W. Bush and the GOP has left us after 8 years. For all his experience, John McCain does not have the same inherent leadership qualities that Obama does. And at this critical point in our nation's history, we need the diplomacy, vision, and hope of Obama more than we need another inbred Republican who will drive our country further into the toilet.

In my opinion, the demise of our country seven and a half years ago was caused by what was left by President Clinton (yes, I said Clinton). Our economy was in the negative figures in January '01. I am 27 years old and have 3 children. My husband and I wake up everyday to do what it takes to take care of them. My husband worked full time while I went to school full time and worked part time. We worked hard to get what we wanted and it paid off. I have graduated from college without the help of my parents or the government while raising 3 children. That was the origional American dream. Work hard to earn the things that you want, not wait for handouts from the government. I believe full heartedly that there are people out there that do need the help, but I have seen in my own family how government aid is abused by people that stand back and expect handouts. My husband and I have worked hard to get to middle class, and I honestly do not think that it is fair that we are exected to work hard to pay the bills of deadbeats. That is what NoBama has in store for us. Raise the taxes so everyone (mostly unemployed) is equal. Before you question the unemployed part, think of this: all the millions of illegal alliens that are being paid under the table could be shipped out and it would open many jobs up to our unemployed. I know both candidates are not speaking much about this issue, but it is an issue. As far as abortion, I am a firm believer that the only thing that legitimizes abortion is rape or danger to the mother. I do not want my tax dollars paying for abortions, and with NoBama wanting nationwide healthcare, it will end up leading to government paid abortions. Spend the fifty cents and get a condom or use birth control. I honestly have not seen or heard anything that NoBama has done in his career to prove that he is qualified to run this great nation. Obviously many members of the democratic party feel the same way as proved by this ad.

I had to go to John McCain.com after watching NoBama on the TV. I needed reassurance that some people had not lost their minds entirely and become cultist converts! I teach geometry in high school, and one topic we thoroughly cover is logic and conclusions. Barack Obama's candidacy is proof (yes, I mean figuratively and literally) POSITIVE that America is no longer capable of thinking and reasoning for itself! Is it any wonder that we are scoring lower and lower on our math??!! And no, it has nothing to do with the $ we throw at the situation, Senator Obama, it has to do with teaching people to think. A hard matter when we're throwing around empty promises of "lowering taxes, yet promising education for everyone?" Please tell me that SOMEONE else besides myself and John McCain sees the illogic and inconsistency of his statements!! Or have we all become the lemmings of our age? At least the Democrats featured in the ad at one point saw all the inconsistencies, but now have all put their heads in the sand, so they can keep their padded coffers of "power". To paraphrase C.S. Lewis, "What ARE they teaching in schools these days?" In my class we teach logic, and the lack thereof, so I guess I'm thankful to NoBama a little. He provides great counter examples to truth and solutions. Change without purpose is illogical, and Barack's purported purposes make no practical, or common sense. Just empty rhetoric. Experience trumps fluff, again. Speak truth and logic McCain - give us true change from "feel good" politics that are empty to real solutions with substance. Waiting to hear what you have to say in Minnesota - where MY grandparents are from, and had an even tougher life than Barack's. Thanks for another example of feelings over truth Senator Obama. I'm not buying. Anyone else with me?

I am not a Rep or Dem. I think the whole think is akin to white or wheat. Its all bread in the end. This squabbling just takes our minds off the real problems facing our country. But that's not what I'm posting about. President McCain08, in response to your post on Dems lack of testicular fortitude, perhaps you should start thinking with a different organ and recall what happened the last time we were in a similar situation with Russia. Remember when they were invading Afghanistan and we thought it would be a really good idea to give the Afghans (Taliban) US weapons and training? That worked out real well. At least in Vietnam and Korea we could argue that we were stopping the spread of the Godless Commies. (Bum bum bum...) Now are we trying to stop the "spread of democracy"? Lets fix America before we start messing with other countries. Oh, right. Too late. Though I must admit I think its very wrong for a country to just invade another independent country. I mean who do they think they are, sticking their noses into someone else's business? Especially into a country with no oil. Seriously Russia, what were you thinking? You could have at least called it a pre-emptive strike or something. OK, so maybe I do tend towards one party's side a little bit. But I am a firm believer in the Republican's core belief of small government. You know, the kind that doesn't legislate morality.(cough abortion cough gay marriage cough) Sure Hillary and Bidden were trash-talking Obama. They wanted to be president, just like McCain. They're politicians, its what they do, all party lines aside. Didn't get them very far, though. It was once said, politics would be a great way to run a nation if it weren't for all the politicians. And Tiffedale, the only thing consistent about McCain is his reliance on a smear campaign. It makes him look as foolish as Kerry did last time around. Anyway, stay informed everybody, and don't forget to look at both sides of every issue. Intelligent and open discourse is one of the truly great things about this nation of ours.

Ok, I was done, but teacher mom, as a scientist, I am appalled at what you consider logic, free thinking, and especially "proof". That's a significant word to just casually toss around. Between you and the No Child Left Behind farce, no wonder our educational system is faltering.

I am so pleased by truth, may all American's get it before the day is done, or the Election occurs.

Barack Obama is like a flash of alcohol burning off in a entree at a restaurant, lots of flare and show, but it adds not one ounce of substance or nutrition to the meal.

Anonymous987654321 said: 1 year ago

"No BS all around" As the geometry teacher might, said your statement is QED proof of his point. Thinking with your gut, not facts, how very Colbert.

No Child Left Behind Act Is Working http://www.ed.gov/nclb/overview/importance/nclbworking.html For America's nine-year-olds in reading, more progress was made in five years than in the previous 28 combined. America's nine-year-olds posted the best scores in reading (since 1971) and math (since 1973) in the history of the report. America's 13-year-olds earned the highest math scores the test ever recorded.

concernedforusa said: 1 year ago

I do believe those scores were compiled from selected schools ( about 1% of students) and not an overall average. This report did not include results from students with disabilities which showed very little improvement if any. Plus, this act limited phys ed which attributes to child obesity and takes away from history, art and music which encourages children to develop problem solving skills through creativity and resulted in an unbalanced education system. Facts are very important and so is telling the whole story. As for the ad, I always search for the understatement in these messages whether Dem or Rep and all I see is fear. Fear created for those who are too ignorant to think for themselves. Fear that the candidate has nothing of real value to say. And mostly, the candidate is desperate to make their opponent look bad. Just give me the facts. I want them tell me what it's going to take to get us, the USA, back on track. The last 7+ years has been a disaster and I feel sorry for the persons who will have to clean up the mess, I know it won't be easy, but we can't have more of the same.

obama is so 'not' ready and EVERYONE knows this. However he has a dream..but don't we ALL have a dream? I so sick of being called a racist just because this man doesn't have the credentials fit to be President. Gessssssssh...enough of obamania already. Hype...rhetoric is so over the top for this man.

rational said: 1 year ago

It shows how irrational Obama supporters are that, when you give actual quotes (and, yes, they are in the correct context) actual quotes without commentary, that the quotes are so devastating that Obama supporters call them things like "gross and low". The Democratic candidates recognized this man's excessive lack of experience and said it publicly. Why is that "low"? Because it exposes the man?

You know why he didn't run against Bush in '02? He didn't hold a national office.

Talking about Obama's inexperience isn't "low". It's a fact.

Don't deflect it. Don't call names. Don't get emotional. Discuss it. Deal with it. Maybe it shouldn't matter. But it's true.

No BS all around said: 1 year ago

Learn to read please. I believe decay33 said that that the juxtoposition of those quotes against imagery of people in pain and suffering is "gross and low". Yes, what is occuring in Georgia and Russia is a fact. Yes, Obama's lack of experience is a fact. But creating a message that implies these two facts as being directly correlated is a "gross and low" mistatement of these facts.
