If your creativity is feeling too much like work it may be helpful to realize that the waking state is always a state of work. The wheels are already spinning. So it’s a more a matter of conditioning yourself to more creative work and less of all the other forms of work we get involved in i.e. waiting in line, anticipating the events of tomorrow. If it feels like work it may be inertia because I’m trying to do something I haven’t habituated. An activity that I haven’t made part of my daily routine. Or, my priorities may be out of whack: trying to go from point A to point Z instead of from point A to point B. Creativity is work but so is all other life activity. Try to relax into the activity. Instead of trying to finish the project try to finish just the very next step. Break it down. Don’t try to do too much at once. It is never about making it, it’s about getting into the zone. That is going to make a world of difference. It will help you enjoy your work. It will help you get connected to your creativity. It will help you put aside things that interfere with you creativity. It will open you up to real inspiration. The more that your trying to get into the creative zone, the faster and easier it will be to get plugged into the creative work. Creative writing/ storytelling tutorial for the multimedia age. The writing strategies offered in these tutorials can also be applied to podcasting, film work, storyboarding, cartooning, etc. but they are still very much about writing.
