Most video played on or distributed through Blip is displayed in a Blip player. There is a default Blip video player, but show creators can also customize their own players. These players can be used on their own show sites, can be the default players that people use to embed episodes, and can also be the default players displayed on Blip show pages. Players on Blip episode pages cannot be customized at this time.
There are some distribution outlets that do not use Blip players. These include:
Visit the Player Manager in the new Show Creator Dashboard to manage customized players.
The Player Manager allows you to create a list of customized players that you can use for different purposes. You can also set a player as your default to be used when you don't have an opportunity to make a choice of your own.
Yes. Recommendations in the Blip player can be disabled. You can do this by customizing a player and changing the "Endcap" in the "Additional player functionality" section of the Player Editor.
Disabling recommendations in your player will prevent your show from being recommended on other players. You may see a decrease in video views as a result of this customization.
You can change the branding displayed on the lower right corner of the player by customizing your player. Visit your Player Manager and either create a new custom player or edit an existing one.
Brand customization is in the "Player appearance" section on the top left of the Player Editor.
We are currently planning a feature that will allow you to place a custom logo "bug" in the lower right corner of the player instead of using a text link. This feature may be available only to professional account holders.
You can disable the Guide by unchecking the "Display guide button" option in the Player Appearance section of the Player Editor. You can also customize the tabs displayed in the Guide in the Additional Player Functionality section of the Player Editor.
Most elements of the player can be customized within the Player Manager and Player Editor. If you don't see an option in the Player Editor you can probably still change it. Check out the "Advanced Settings" section of the Player Editor for more information about how to do this.
