Blip is free for viewers and producers. In fact, producers that use Blip often make money through our revenue share program. We do offer upgraded professional accounts for producers who need extra services beyond what the Dashboard normally offers.
Blip is designed for original web series. Web series must release new episodes on a regular basis, have a particular audience or subject matter focus, and share a common format from episode to episode. Series may be sitcoms, news magazines, nature shows, dramas, science fiction, tech reviews or anything else. They may be about wine or beer, poker or exercise and healthy living.
Blip does not accept "viral video" one-offs, marketing videos or gameplay videos. We reserve the right to refuse or remove any content that fails to match our standards and mission.

We take copyright law extremely seriously. We believe that the only way to build a responsible company is by respecting the rights of creative people everywhere. For this reason we have developed a copyright policy to ensure compliance with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act.
The basic Blip service -- which is more than sufficient to build a successful Web show -- is free. We also promise never to charge you tomorrow for what you're doing today for free. This is to say that we won't charge you in six months for a video that you upload today.
We do have some paid features, including professional accounts. We may release additional paid features from time to time that provide new functionality designed specifically for professional or "enterprise" show creators.
Blip is designed to take advantage of the latest web standards like HTML5 and CSS3. We recommend that you use a modern web browser such as Google Chrome, a recent version of Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer 9. Viewers and producers must also have the latest Flash plug-in.
Blip does not take ownership of the original series that are uploaded through its Dashboard or made available on its destination site. Web series belong to the producers, not to us.
We've tried to make our Terms of Service as clear as possible on this subject. When you upload a video to us you give us a non-exclusive right to store, distribute and "exploit" the video. You can cancel this right at any time by removing the video from Blip.
The company was created to help independent producers, and that's still what motivates us each early morning and late night of work. We also support Creative Commons licensing.
Blip may modify your videos to playback efficiently on the Web, mobile devices and televisions. These modifications create what are called "derivative works." Derivative works we create may include transcoded video files, thumbnail extractions and more. We may also create promotional excerpts for use in driving viewership of your series.
We will not make any changes to your videos that change their meaning or have any other meaningful impact on the message you are delivering, your plot, or your content. You can learn more from our Terms of Use.
The Blip distribution network includes the Blip destination site and much of what we call the "video Internet." The distribution network also extends to television screens across America.
Not all series are eligible for distribution to all outlets. We reserve the right to reject series for distribution based on content, production value, and other factors. Some distribution partners have limited capacity and stringent rules regarding content, age approprieteness and video quality.

The Blip destination site is carefully curated to offer viewers the best in original web series. While the Blip Dashboard is available to anyone making a web series, the destination site is reserved only for the top 5% of web series. Of the 50,000 original series that use Blip to distribute their content, only 1,800 are available on the Blip destination site.

Blip was founded by five friends in early May 2005. We launched the first version of the site on May 11, 2005. We've been iterating on our offerings ever since. We are now about fifty people in Greenwich Village in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Dallas, London and Chicago. We're backed by Canaan Partners, Ambient Sound Investments and Bain Capital Ventures.
