Brussels, 2 July 2008. Uwe Wissenbach from the European Commission, DG Development, focusses his intervention in the Brussels Briefing on 'New drivers, new players in ACP rural development' on the EU response to China inolvement in Africa. For Mr. Wissenbach there's a lot of misperception on China's role in Africa, and this leads to mistrust. He indicates the need for "sitting together" and figure out what can be done together in Africa and for Africa. Among others, Wissembach indicates in infrastructure, sustainable resource management and, global value chain, peace and security, climate change areas with huge potential for collaboration.
