Erik the Librarian Mysteries follows a reclusive librarian who falls in love with a mysterious stranger. Creator Brent Forrester, who wrote and directed each "Erik" episode, brings to bear the same offbeat comic sensibility that he demonstrates as a consulting producer for "The Office," as well as prior work on "The Ben Stiller Show," "The Simpsons," "Late Night with Conan," "King of the Hill" and "Mr. Show with Bob and Dave." The series stars standup comedian Erik Charles Nielsen and Mindy Kaling from "The Office," with surprise guests popping up in future episodes.Created by Brent Forrester. Matt Besser accuses Matt Braunger of book theft, while Mindy again attempts to retrieve her lost keys out of the library’s lost and found without Erik the librarian noticing her presence.
In his continuing quest to win the heart of his one true love Mindy, Erik enlists the help of Matt Braunger to tap into the power of Music.
In this episode, Mindy comes back to retrieve her lost keys and deals with the head librarian played by Matt Besser. Matt is one of the founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade (where Amy Pohler got her start). Series director Brent Forrester calls Besser “undoubtedly one of the greatest improv comedians alive today.”
Here you meet the character of Erik the Librarian, played by a rising star of the alt-comedy scene, Erik Charles Nielsen. Erik is a hyper-intellectual young man who was on his way to getting a PhD in English when he dropped out to pursue standup full time. To our knowledge, this is the first time Erik has ever acted on film.
