Der Bericht dokumentiert, dass das Gesundheitsrisiko von Kinderleukämie, Krebs bei Erwachsenen und neurologischen Krankheiten einschließlich Brustkrebs und Alzheimer mit der Exposition gegenüber elektromagnetischer Strahlung steigt. EMF-Expositionen sind wahrscheinlich jedes Jahr für Hunderte von neuen Kinderleukämiefällen verantwortlich. Die wissenschaftliche Beweislage ist inzwischen ausreichend, um neue Grenzwerte für elektromagnetische Belastungen von Hochspannungsleitungen zum Schutz der Bevölkerung festzulegen, die fast tausendfach niedriger sind als die derzeitig gültigen. Californians fight state's forced aerial pesticide spraying plans. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has announced plansto resume aerial pesticide spraying for the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) in summer 2008. Despite massive local public opposition, the multi-million dollar campaign began in 2007 in Santa Cruz and Monterey counties using a synthetic pheromone along with other chemicals encased in microscopic plastic capsules. Ignoring widespread reports of serious human health effects, as well as damage to marine life and bees, CDFA will expand the program to the San Francisco Bay Area beginning in Summer, 2008, with plans to continue spraying each month for 3 - 5 years or indefinitely until the moth is 'eradicated.'On Moday. Bill Moyer (not to be confused with the TV journalist Bill Moyers) developed the MAP (Movement Action Plan) Model of how successful progressive movements evolve. He originated – with Carol Perry – the ‘Creating Peaceful Relationships’ workshop series. Advisor to Rev. Martin Luther King, co-founder of the Movement for a New Society and founder of the Social Movement Empowerment Project (SMEP), Bill – as he was known to his many international students, friends and colleagues – was a lifelong practitioner of non-violent political and social activism. His lectures and workshops, models and ideas continue to empower progressive organizations around the world. He died of cancer in 2002, at the age of 69.In his last public lecture just prior to his death, beloved activist, teacher and social movement analyst Bill Moyer summarized the insights of a lifetime about how social movements grow and succeed, and about his vision of a new culture emerging through the cracks of a declining empire. Bill was a founding Board Member of EON.
