Transitions (curator's edition) is an experimentalplatform for curators and artists at Newlyn ArtGallery. Andy Whall & Delpha Hudson have worked as ArtSurgery curating performance and live art in the SWfor over 10 years. They have also workedindividually as visual and performance artists. InThat's Entertainment, Hudson & Whall work together forthe first time, ostensibly to 'entertain'. There is intentional irony in the working title,and making an installation/set, and a rich, engagingshow in 4 days, even with the help of clown Mr B, astack of research and ideas, and a live musician, wasdoomed to failure. Nonetheless they flirted withtheatre, risk and disappointment, juggling writing,directing, devising, curating and improvising. The final show of That’s Entertainment, hadmajestically flawed performances, huge holes innarrative, content and form, yet was beautifullystupid and edgy. It exists here as a game that wasplayed with Brett Jackson our clown, Graham Gaunt ourmusician, helpful audiences, and gorgeouslyrepresented by film-maker Alban Roinard from eiafilms. Less
