They positively affect the imbedding into the organization and the customerrelationship. The decrease of the information monopoly, the flood of information, and theincreasing competition strengthen the necessity for marketing activities. This is especially truefor virtual services, services that are electronic-only and are growingly used remote, likeeJournals, eBooks, eReference, Portals etc. Fundamental principles of marketing and publicrelations are described and illustrated with examples from the Branch Library of Medicine atMünster. New methods for target marketing of virtual services are presented.
