While the beginning of this talk might seem a bit dated in an era of GPS-enabled phones, please note that not all phones have accurate GPS. More importantly, later on in the talk we discuss other alternative schemes for geolcation-based information, specifically audio-related. This is the keynote presentation from Cluecon 2008, in which I discuss location-based services. The slides for this presentation are available here. "Interesting web applications demonstrate that information really does want to be free. Developers mix and match data from various sources to create new, fascinating, and useful web sites. By comparison, telephony applications incorporate limited information and -- in a mobile world -- almost nothing in the way of location-sensitive information. What information will be free in twenty years? How will telephony applications incorporate this information? How do we get there from here? How can we make money during the journey?" Presented by Moshe Yudkowsky.
Workshop, talks, and lectures by Moshe Yudkowsky of Disaggregate. Topics include innovative telephony services such as mash-ups as well as a three-hour workshop on the CCXML (Call Control XML) programming language.
