Short clips that I'm experimenting with to learn more about using video.
Skitters encounters ducks, but prefers bread.
A walk on the beach at Lancing. I've no idea why the video is so full of artifacts. Possibly a camera problem (Flip) or (more likely) a different AVI codec I was trying out :-( Apologies for talking to my dog like an idiot. Weather: It wasn't as windy as it sounds.
The annual Santa dash, mostly shot from the dog's point of view.
Talking about taykt.com at £5 App event in Brighton on 11 June 2009. The other angle is http://www.vimeo.com/5129091
An almost unwatchable recording of the walk from a Union Sq hotel to the Moscone centre for JavaOne 2009.
We left Skitters in the house for 30 minutes, and I wondered how long it took the dog to settle down. Using iStopMotion set up with an appropriately angled laptop in the kitchen, the answer appears to be 3-5 minutes.
Here's a short clip of Jane swooshing down a hill in Les Arcs. I held the dinky Flip video (640x480 CMOS) in one hand and my old Sony PC4E (Mini DV, CCD) in the other and pressed record. No processing or adjustments (aside from deinterlacing the source). The Flip is on the left; the Sony on the right. http://www.ciao.co.uk/Sony_Handycam_DCR_PC4E__5600870#productdetail http://www.theflip.com/products_flip_video_specs.II.shtml
On Saturday 13th December at 10.30am, 200 or so people put on a santa outfit and took part in the 5k Santa Dash to raise money for Crisis. The weather wasn't that great. My camera died with a cryptic error (I'm guessing high moisture problems) and I switched to the video capabilities of a point-n-shoot digital compact camera. Ever wondered what Bonfire night in Lewes is like? I arrived very late, so missed the parades. I wandered through part of the town to meet some friends in a pub, and then we headed out to one of the bonfires to see the fireworks. On the way back, we bumped into another one of the parades heading to another one of the bonfires. Apologies for my first experiments using SoundTrack for the "music".
Here's a comparison: the same place, same time of day, but two different cameras. On the left is a recording from Sony DCR-PC4E on MiniDV. On the right is the helmet cam view, taken with what I think is the Samsung SC-X210L. There's been no colour correction.Despite the left-hand view starting off quite blue, and ending up quite pink (presumably as the light changed), I think this is a better representation of the real colours and light than the helmet cam view on the right.I'm not proud of th...
