Hank Jones was one of eight former members and supporters of the Black Panther Party arrested January 23, 2007, on charges related to the 1971 killing of a San Francisco police officer. Similar charges made were thrown out when a judge found that the defendants made confessions after police in New Orleans tortured them for several days. A week before the arrests, Hank Jones explained why the government still wants to destroy the Black Liberation Movement: under the Patriot Act, any case of “terrorism” makes it easier to rule and to strip all people of their rights and their motivation to make a better world.
