Vase Soap Carving | Meekyoung Shin Studio Visit

Meekyoung Shin Artist Studio Visit The Saatchi Gallery's 'Korean Eye' showcased the work of 21 artists including the critically acclaimed sculptor Meeyoung Shin. Fascinated by the properties of traditional marble sculptures, Seoul-born Slade graduate Shin started exploring soap as a medium for sculpting, she has since mastered a technique so skilful that only the sweet and flowery smell in her studio reveals that the vases, busts and various other pieces are not made from solid marble. One of her current pieces, a replica of an equestrian statue called 'Written Soap', is currently on display at Cavendish Square. Crane.tv meets Shin in her studio to watch the artist at work and here about the fascinating bridge sculpture builds between the East and West. www.koreaneye.org/exhibition Subscribe to our newsletter at http://www.crane.tv Twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/CraneTV Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/crane.tv Blog: http://cranetv.tumblr.com/
