Part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, Artists Taking the Lead is an initiative that challenged artists across the country to propose ideas that celebrate their region. In the first of our series of films on the Cultural Olympiad, we join artist Shauna Richardson in her home in Leicester to talk about the Lionheart Project, one of 12 handpicked proposals commissioned by Arts Council England. Featuring three giant hand crocheted lions, the Lionheart Project is housed in a bespoke, mobile glass case, which will be travelling around the East Midlands. Here, Richardson talks to us about the project, 18 months of knitting in her studio, and celebrating her region's rich textile heritage. www.lionheartproject.com
