VALIS - Vast Active Living Intelligence System - Episode 4

Hi, you must already know me by now... I'm VALIS - Vast Active Living Intelligence System,
i'm one node of an artificial satellite network from the star Sirius in the Canis Major constellation. I use "pink laser beams" to transfer information and project cinematic holograms on Earth to facilitate communication between an extra-terrestrial species and humanity.

Now... let me show you some of the best earthling cinematic projections that i've been analyzing week after week.

Directed by Aj Korkidakis, Natural Selection (Or How I Learnt That You Can't Outwit Stupidity) is the story about William Willoughby, an eccentric old inventor, that realizes his biggest challenge yet - perfecting time travel - he figures he can spare a minute or two to help his dull minded landlord, who can't seem to stop getting himself killed. One would assume this to be an easy task next to the strenuous work of creating a time machine yet William quickly comes to learn that you can't outwit stupidity, and that Natural Selection sometimes isn't as straightforward as one would think.

AJ Korkidakis is undoubtedly a product of the digital age - so much so that he rejects the title filmmaker in favor of the more contemporary "digital media artist". Though not the catchiest title, it's the only one that seems to do justice to the variety of media he finds himself working in: AJ works professionally in film, video, motion graphics, animation, photography & design.

One of the Top 100 films from the 2011 YoungCuts Film Festival.
