During the European Development Days that took place in Strasbourg on 15-17 November 2008, Jean-Pierre Elong Mbassi of United Cities and Local Governments in Africa expressed his concern about the future of aid disbursements in the light of the financial crisis. He calls for a sustained aid level of 0.7% allowing to reach the MDGs and underlines the importance of local governments in development.
