The USA is the only industrialized democracy and one of only seven countries in the world that has not ratified the Convention for Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), which was passed by the United Nations in 1979.Thus, the 30th anniversary of CEDAW and the 15th anniversary of the landmark Beijing Women’s Conference was turned into a ground-breaking meeting to take stock of women rights in North Carolina and renew the resolve to win the U.S. support for CEDAW ratification. This meeting took place at Raleigh based InterAct office on February 15, 2010, and included presentation from four women students.
