SWAT Teams Combat Gang Shootings With Warrants, Arrests

Modesto Police Department along with the assistance of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department served numerous search warrants today due to several recent gang related shootings.

On January 10th 2012, Modesto Police Department and the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics teams served several high-risk search warrants within the airport neighborhood of Modesto.

These search warrants were in relation to several recent gang related shootings within the airport neighborhood. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Against Persons Unit have been able to identify several homes that were related to the shootings and the search warrants were executed in an attempt to stop the violence.

During the service of the warrants several guns were located as well as over 1.3 pounds of Methamphetamine.

Arrested were:

Mauricio Sanchez 19 of Modesto for two counts of drive by shooting and association with a criminal street gang,

Carlos Soriano 21 of Modesto for two counts of drive by shooting and association with a criminal street gang

Ronald Sisneroz 19 of Modesto for parole violation

Hector Estrada 38 years of Modesto for possession of methamphetamine for sales

Juan Vargas 46 of Modesto for possession of methamphetamine for sales

Ricky Madrigal 19 of Modesto for Possession of drugs

Also arrested were:
One male juvenile for an outstanding warrant and one male juvenile for one count of drive by shooting and association with a criminal street gang

Detective Gumm from the Violent Crimes Against Persons Unit feels that today’s action from police as well as future operations will help in making the airport neighborhood just a little bit safer. He anticipates more arrests as this case unfolds.
