Accidents in celluloid and pixels is gemaakt door Rosa Menkman in het kader van Celluloid Remix en bevat speciaal geselecteerd materiaal uit de collectie van het Filmmuseum. Menkman:"All footage in is original celluloid film offered by the Filmmuseum Amsterdam for the Celluloid Remix project. The three videos I choose had a particular accident as subject (see 1, 2, and 3). The changes in terms of materiality (the grain) of the video are created by different compression accidents or compression artifacts: while remixing the celluloid I tried to draw an analogy between the materiality of the celluloid and the digital pixel. (I did not use any corporate filters except for lumakey and adjusting the contrast). As you can see some digital compressions add particular colors to the video, just like celluloid does (only this happens over longer time). In my opinion compression glitches are a new materiality in the digital realm. Soundtrack: Goto80 offered me his raw sound material (10 min) created on the ARP 2500, during his residency at WORM, Rotterdam. I edited a little bit to make it shorter".Meer over mijn research in artifacts op mijn website http://rosa-menkman.blogspot.com/
