South Dakota adopted the Uniform Controlled Substances Act on February 13, 1970 1970 Session Laws, Chapter 229, SDCL §§ 34-20B-1 to 34-20B-114 Repealed the Uniform Narcotic Drug Act (SDCL §§ 39-16-1 to 39-16-65) by L.1968, c. 94 and L.1970, c. 229, and enacted in lieu thereof the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
