The Arts Affair was the vision of founder William E. Beyer, who saw value in local artists joining together for a public art exhibition. Bill was and continues to be a dedicated supporter of the arts, who understands the need for artists to support one another. This tradition of friendship and appreciation of the arts is what the Arts Affair is all about. In Bill’s honor the Arts Affair Committee has established an award in his name, “The William E. Beyer Award of Excellence”. Last year’s recipient was Dan McCole of the South Boston Art Association. This year we showcase the wealth of talent by local artists representing fifteen art associations. Welcome members from the new, Independent South Shore Artists Connection. Welcome members of Needham Art Association, celebrating their 50th year. Welcome members of the Brockton Council on Aging. Welcome back to members of Duxbury, South Shore Art Center, and North River Art Associations. And welcome Braintree, Canton, Hull, Hyde Park, Milton Art Museum, Quincy, South Boston, West Roxbury, and Weymouth Art Associations. Your continuous involvement has been the foundation on which the Arts Affair has been built. My appreciation to all the Association Presidents for their assistance in getting the word out to their members, and thank you artists, for your enthusiasm to participate. Thank you to Artscope and OnTray magazines for publicizing this event. I would also like to thank QACTV, Canton Cable 8, and BNN for their part in helping to promote the Arts Affair. And finally, thank you to the many volunteers and demonstrators. On a personal note, sincere appreciation and many thanks to my Arts Affair Committee, who again rose to the occasion showing an outstanding team effort start to finish.
