Rachel Maddow brought on John Hodgman of the Daily Show fame to talk about the Occupy Wall Street rallies. The segment was only partially tongue in cheek and proved once and for all that Jon Stewart's show is at least as newsy as the supposed prime time cable news shows. And a whole lot funnier.
Cable "news" is a jungle. Entertaining, tacky, loud, opinionated, silly? Yep. Journalism? No way. Especially in prime time the hosts of these shows are clowns whose only job is to get like-minded viewers to lap up what's put in front of them. Cable Kooks skewers this faux-news whether it's on Fox, MSNBC, CNN or even Current. We watch cable news so you don't have to. To quote John Hodgman, "you're welcome."
