In 1994, most computers were still 80386-class; the 80486, running at 66-100MHz, was quickly gaining popularity. Modems ran at 14.4 k.b.p.s., but unless you frequented bulletin boards, you probably settled for 2400-baud (2.4 k.b.p.s.). Consumer hard disk drives were smaller than 540MB.
