A decision to shift its base from America’s first suburb to upstate New York has prompted a sell-off of property owned by the religious group.Immigration is once again a hot-button issue. In the absence of a national standard, states have begun to adopt individual plans for policing immigration. We find out the borough’s fears and hopes for an immigration plan that works for Brooklyn. Freddy’s Bar, the Prospect Heights landmark since the Prohibition-era, is being razed to make way for the Barclays Center. We’re there for Freddy’s last call. Medger Evers College Preparatory School has something to cheer about: it’s one of three schools in the nation to receive the College Board’s 2010 Inspiration Award . The $25,000 award is a testament to the turnaround of the previously failing Central Brooklyn School. The YMCA is making a big splash in the lives of young people with their free water-safety classes. The weeklong camps give kids the skills to make waves at the pool this summer.
