Film of the meeting, this part concentrates on the sell off of the Forest of Dean. Following article about the meeting courtesy of The Forester Newspaper. FORESTERS angered by proposed service cuts and a possible sell-off of the Dean will be drawing up battle plans in Cinderford on Friday night. The town council has called a public meeting at the Miners’ Welfare Hall, and they’re advising people to get there early to get a seat. The meeting starts at 7pm with an hour to discuss proposed cuts in libraries, youth and disabled centres. County council leader Coun Mark Hawthorne will address the issue. Public cuts issues will be followed by a discussion on the potential sell-off of the Dean. Town councillor Frank Beard will chair the meeting, and Baroness Jan Royall of Blaisdon has confirmed her attendance. The Forest’s MP Mark Harper, however, won’t attend or send a substitute to represent his proposal for a community buy-out. Mr Harper will hold his own public meeting in January. Town council chairman Graham Morgan said: “People should come to air their views. We need some questions to put to Mr Harper. The issue is upsetting to a lot of people. The big question is: will or won’t the Forest be sold? We need to know before it’s too late.” More info: http://www.theforester.co.uk/searchres
