Million Hoodie March: A Public Response to the Death of Trayvon Martin - BreakThruRadioTV [ep19]

On the night of March 21, 2012, New Yorkers rallied in Union Square for the “Million Hoodie March,” demanding the arrest of George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot teenager Trayvon Martin. Due to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, Zimmerman could claim self-defense and go un-charged, despite the fact that he has admitted to shooting the unarmed 17-year-old. BreakThruRadioTV’s Lauren Hawker was at the event and spoke to some of the attendees, many of whom were wearing hoodies and holding bags of Skittles as a tribute to Martin. /// Featured song: “I Will Walk” by Release The Sunbird /// Shot and edited by Jacqueline Soller
