So many reviews on the web have been erroneously posting that the Microsoft Lifecam Studio is only capable of 720p despite its packaging. That annoys Robbie, because it leads to disinterest by software developers such as Telestream, the makers of Wirecast - http://cat5.tv/wirecast So, to prove a point, Robbie plugged in a Microsoft Lifecam Studio (which he bought for only $48 on sale), installed VirtualDub, and pressed record. The results will absolutely destroy most of the reviews that exist at the time of this recording, and perhaps set straight the ones that come in the future. A review from October 28, 2008 - It should be noted that since this review was conducted back in 2008, LEI has launched whole new lines of the Liquid Image product. The devices have since become available with even higher quality components and even HD video. However, all things in this review continue to remain true of even the new lines of product. From a technical standpoint, the features of the Liquid Image mask are quite good, especially for the price. A 5.0 Megapixel still camera built into this diving mask allows you to take underwater pictures at 2560x1920. You can also record full-motion video (up to a maximum of 25 frames per second) in VGA resolution. That means a video recording of 640x480. That's fairly low resolution for those who use HDTVs or other high-end devices to view their videos, but for the average user, it's adequate. To give you an idea of the resolution, you can consider that DVD is 720x480, so 640x480 is usable on a standard TV, or can be ideal for use on web sites, or other low-resolution viewing platforms. From the non-technical end, I really know nothing about scuba masks. That's why I talked to Tim from Tim's Diving Supplies. Tim has been diving for over 20 years, and has owned a professional diving retail outlet and training venue for 10 years. While I won't redundantly state all that Tim discussed, as you can watch the interview in the "Associated Video" above, I'll list some of the key points Tim made about the Liquid Image mask, from a professional diver's perspective.
