Blackberry messenger is an application that allows you to stay connected to friends and family. Austin: Hi I’m Austin, from Riverdale, Utah. I want to show you how to use your BlackBerry and one really cool feature about BlackBerry that I absolutely love is BlackBerry messenger. The reason I like BlackBerry messenger so much is because you can stay connected with your friends anywhere in the world. Your friends could be anywhere from Russia to China to South America, Canada, it doesn’t matter anywhere they may be you can still stay connected and it doesn’t cost you anything extra. What I’m going to do is show you how to do that today. So, if you take your BlackBerry, from the main screen here, you’re going to hit the speckle button. What you want to do is locate the applications folder. Select the applications folder and scroll over to instant messaging. The one I really want to focus on is BlackBerry messenger, that’s the one that is going to let you stay connected to your friends and family all over the world. Then you can see you can have conversations. What we’re going to do is go ahead and send an instant message to one of my buddies, Yuri. So lets click on Yuri and say ‘How’s it going, what are you up to right now?’ So like I send my friends messages, I can say ‘How’s it going?’ It doesn’t matter what languages you speak and what ones you don’t speak, you can stay connected and that’s the most important thing. So, you might be asking the question, how do I set up BlackBerry messenger? It’s actually a little bit detailed, so I want to show you how to do it, so you get set up correctly. When you set up your BlackBerry messenger, what you actually need to do, is you need to find your personal identification number. It’s called your PIN number and once you have your PIN number you can connect with the people that have their own PIN numbers as well. So, my PIN number I would send to Yuri and then he would send his PIN number to me and then we’re connected. So, let’s go ahead and show you exactly how to do that. So, if you get on your BlackBerry here and you go into the main menu what you want to do is scroll down here to the options menu. So, by selecting the options menu, you’ll find some different things on there. So scroll down till you see the section that say Status. Go ahead and select Status, it has your serial number, personal identification it gives you your battery life and all that fun stuff. We’re going to scroll down to the fourth one the PIN identification number and there you have it. That’s going to be your PIN that you need to send to your friends.
