AMSTERDAM – Comcast's thePlatform, a video management and publishing company, is aiming to revolutionize VOD, TV Everywhere and the digital media consumer experience with a new, next generation video commerce solution, says Marty Roberts, SVP of Sales and Marketing at thePlatform, in this interview with Beet.TV done at the IBC Show.
In the interview, Roberts explained that digital media and TV everywhere have enabled broadcasters to understand more about their users than ever before. With information about viewer demographics, behavior and interests in tow, it’s time for broadcasters and distributors to start developing a better, more personalized relationship with customers, he says.
thePlatform’s new video commerce solution, which can be used to monetize content across all video commerce windows, will allow customers to put together dynamic packages. Rather than one price and time frame across the board for VOD, rentals and other content, customers will be able to create packages—for example, a trilogy package, a customizable favorite actor package, season passes to television shows and more.
Roberts says, “It’s really going to enable transactional VOD and transactional online events to become a new revenue source for our customers and contribute significantly to their overall business.”
