The recipe was uncovered by Jared Brown in a 1933 cocktail book, Pioneers of Mixing Gins at Elite Bars, written by the American Travelling Mixologists. You can substitute the raspberry-infused sugar syrup with 4 fresh raspberries and two teaspoons of sugar syrup.
