Haddigan Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Service Senior Vice President / Managing Director Bernard J. Haddigan is a managing director and senior vice president of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services. Mr. Haddigan oversees the firm’s National Retail Group (NRG), the Special Assets Services division and co-directs the Net Leased Properties Group. In 2008, the NRG closed 1,555 retail transactions valued in excess of $4.2 billion. During his career, Mr. Haddigan has been involved in representing many of the largest private and institutional investors in the United States. The Special Assets Services (SAS) division provides a full range of solutions nationwide for the financial services industry from early-stage assessment and valuation through disposition. Lenders and government agencies depend on SAS to maximize liquidity and mitigate loss because of the firm’s track record of combining deep product and market knowledge with long-standing special assets experience. In 2008 alone, the SAS division advised lenders and government agencies on more than 2,000 special assets. Mr. Haddigan is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and regularly participates in its regional and national idea exchanges and trade shows. He is currently serving a three-year term as a member of ICSC’s Open Air Committee. He is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI). For the past 12 years, Mr. Haddigan has moderated and hosted Marcus & Millichap’s Retail Trends event as part of the ICSC RECon Spring Convention in Las Vegas. He is frequently quoted as an expert on the retail property market by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Business Week and many real estate trade publications. A 27-year veteran of Marcus & Millichap, Mr. Haddigan began his career as an associate in the Encino, Calif. office. He was appointed regional manager of the Encino office in 1986, then elected as a managing director and a member of the firm’s board of directors in 1994. In 1995, he relocated to Atlanta as a division manager to lead the firm’s East Coast expansion, opening multiple offices between 1995 and 1998. Mr. Haddigan graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from DePaul University in Chicago.
