Dec 12 2007, NTDTV news And we still have news coming in from Beijing on International Human Rights Day. People came from Henan Province to appeal local injustices, despite snow and extreme cold. But also present was a large police force sent to keep international reporters from reporting on the scene. On December 10, residents gathered trying to submit an official complaint. Most of the appealers this day were teachers who came to appeal their loss of worker benefits. [ Mr. Zheng, Teacher from Henan]: “We have 86 teachers today here from 51 towns. There are so many here and I don’t really know where they traveled from. So far two have been arrested by the police—they are trying to stop us from making our way here.” International reporters from the Associated Press, the L'Agence France-press, England, Germany, Hong Kong and other countries came to report the incident, but most were blocked by police.
