These are films, usually made in a day, that sift through the connections between people and spacecraft. While it took great efforts for me to be allowed into this inner world, the outer world of the satellites and spacecraft remain, for me, imaginary.I have also started to make audio podcasts, The Satellite Investigations World Tour, has just begun at: http://www.aconnectiontoaremoteplace.net/world_tour/podcast_wt.xmlMy blog that began in 2006, when the investigations first became grounded at the University of British Columbia, in vancouver, is at:http://www.aconnectiontoaremoteplace.net/ I've become more sensitive to the word 'remote' as I've seen more of the world.
This is a tiny film that started being red and blue. It is at the time of the launch of Themis, five satellites that align once a year behind the earth from the sun to measure events over time and space during an auroral storm. I'll make some more of these short films to record something of my time at the Space Science lab, UC Berkeley and the easy way they accommodated me there.
