A CHANCE FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATION

About this original series

A CHANCE FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATIONHistory of the FoundationIn 1994, Baywatch creator and executive producer, Gregory J. Bonann joined forces with freelance writer, Tai Collins to create Camp Baywatch. Their vision was to give less fortunate children a chance to experience the beach, breathe fresh air and have a safe place to run at a week long camp held at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. They wanted these children to have knowledge of CPR, learn how to swim, learn water safety and meet with professional lifeguards, firefighters, policemen and the U.S. Coast Guard. In 2002, Camp Baywatch was re-named A Chance for Children Foundation as we became more than just a summer camp.A Chance for Children Foundation helps support homeless and "at risk" youth in a variety of educational and athletic activities, after school programs, summer camps, holiday events, college tuition and an Adopt-a-Family program that assists families as they make their transition from the homeless shelters to permanent housing. For many of the children, whose lives have been filtered with hardships, danger and struggle, A Chance for Children represents the dawning of the possibilities to create a better life.Through the efforts of the foundation and the support of many generous volunteers and donors, help and hope can be offered to these children who need it most. As we hope for the best in them, hope is reborn in us.
