The Catholic Church on Religious Liberty

The Most Reverend William Lori, Archbishop of Baltimore, discusses "Fortnight for Freedom", the Catholic Church’s two-week campaign of prayer for religious liberty. Lori talks about the recent threats the Church is facing, including the Obama administration’s new mandate requiring most Catholic organizations and employers to provide health plan coverage for contraceptives, which is contrary to the Church’s beliefs. “Part of religious freedom is the ability for us to be able to maintain the character of our institutions and not to act to violate our teachings,” says Lori.
